Inviting users
Invite team members to your Rybbit organization and control their access to specific sites
On self-hosted instances, this workflow is slightly different. Instead of inviting users, you can create a new user and set their password directly since self-hosted instances don't send emails.
Add the user to your organization
Go to Settings > Organization and click the "Invite Member" button. Enter the user's email address.
Select the user's role
You can assign any role up to your own (only owners can make owners):
- Owner — everything, including billing and deleting the organization
- Admin — manages members, teams and sites, but not billing
- Editor — configures sites (tracking settings, feature flags, experiments, imports, Search Console), but doesn't manage members
- Member — views analytics and builds reports: goals, funnels, dashboards, and their own segments and annotations
- Viewer — read-only
See Member Roles for the full list.
Restricting site access
For editors, members and viewers you can restrict access to specific sites. Check "Restrict access to specific sites" and select the sites they should see. If you don't, they can see every site in your organization (except sites that belong to a team they aren't on).
You can also pick a role on these sites to raise their role on the selected sites only. For example, invite a client as a Viewer, restricted to their own site, with Editor on that site: they can configure their site and nothing else. The site role only ever raises the organization role, never lowers it.
Admins and owners always have access to every site, so site restrictions don't apply to them. A restricted member is treated as a viewer for anything that spans the whole organization, such as organization-wide segments.
Assign teams (optional)
If your organization has teams set up, you can assign the new member to a team during the invitation. When the member accepts the invitation, they will automatically be added to the selected team.
This is useful for ensuring new members immediately have access to the right group of sites without needing to configure access separately.
Send the invite
Click the "Invite" button. The user will receive an email with a link to sign up for Rybbit. You can manage all pending invitations in the Organization settings page.
Managing site access for existing members
You can change a member's site access at any time after they've joined your organization.
- Go to Settings > Organization
- Find the member in the list and click the edit (pencil) icon in the Actions column for that member
- Toggle "Restrict access to specific sites", select the sites they should have access to, and optionally a role on those sites
- Click "Save changes"
The member will immediately only see the sites you've selected. If you disable the restriction, they'll regain access to all sites.
A person can belong to several organizations, each with its own role. To hand a site over to someone so they can manage it in their own organization, transfer the site instead.
